Gono Odhikar Parishad leaders announced on Saturday that party president Nurul Haque Nur will remain in the intensive care unit (ICU) for observation over the next 36 hours. This decision was made following a clash on Friday evening in the Kakrail area of Dhaka.

According to Abu Hanif, a member of the party’s High Council, doctors advised that Nur needs further observation before any decisions are made regarding his treatment.

The clash occurred when a Gono Odhikar Parishad procession passed in front of the Jatiya Party's central office. The situation escalated into violence, leading to intervention from law enforcement. Nur, who sustained multiple wounds and a fractured nasal bone, is currently receiving treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

Gono Odhikar Parishad alleges that Jatiya Party activists initiated the attack, while the Jatiya Party claims that its members were attacked first.

The Inter-Services Public Relations Directorate (ISPR) issued a press release stating that law enforcement officials repeatedly tried to de-escalate the situation, but some activists ignored their warnings. The ISPR noted that violence, including throwing bricks and attempting to set buildings on fire, led to five armed forces personnel being injured.
